  • Phone first
  • Clear location
  • Ready for French pages

Website design that Fredericton customers can use in under a minute

When owners look up web design Fredericton services, they usually want one thing underneath the jargon: a site that turns visits into calls. So here, good website design means answering the questions local searches keep asking. Is the clinic “accepting new patients”? Is the restaurant open now, does it have a patio, can it cope with gluten free? Then there is the daycare: is it French? And for students, is the apartment near UNB? When a site answers in plain text on a phone’s first screen, it tends to win the visit.

Fredericton is also a city of arrivals. Greater Fredericton admitted about 1,700 immigrants in 2025, students reach UNB and St. Thomas each September, and military postings bring families to CFB Gagetown. Yet none of them know which plaza you are in or what locals mean by “uptown”. Clear directions, a map, a winter parking note and a photo of the entrance help them more than any animation.

English is the mother tongue of about 80% of residents and French of about 6%. In fact, the suggestion data shows the city searching almost entirely in English. Some businesses still serve customers in French, and a French daycare or French tutoring is a feature people really do search for. If that describes you, we build a proper structure for French pages, each with its own address and language tags; the French text comes from your team or a professional translator.

  • 80.2% English as mother tongue, 2021
  • 6.1% French as mother tongue, 2021

Search demand

The searches a website design brief grows from

Google.ca suggestions from 4 October 2026. “web design fredericton” and “website design fredericton” both register; the versions ending in “nb” return nothing at all.

Search term Intent Why it matters
web design fredericton Medium The main local wording for this service.
website design fredericton Medium The longer form, also suggested right alongside it.
fredericton web development Medium Owners expecting custom or more technical work than a template offers.
difference between web design and web development Research A buyer still working out what they actually need.
fredericton dentists accepting new patients High An answer a clinic site should give in a heading instead of on the phone.
fredericton restaurants gluten free High Menu detail people filter by, so it must be readable text.
fredericton french daycare High Language of service as the search itself. Say so if you offer it.
fredericton apartments for rent near unb High Distance to campus decides it, so give minutes or streets.

Put the answer they are looking for on the page

Many of those suggestions are in fact questions: accepting new patients, gluten free, french, near unb, with patio. When the honest answer is yes, it belongs in a heading and in body text, not hidden in a PDF or a photo of a sign. We plan the page list around those questions so each has an obvious home, and we keep the wording simple enough to change the day the answer does.

Who builds it

Website design: build it yourself, or commission one?

Both can be sensible. It depends on whether the site simply lists your hours or is where most new customers first meet you.

From visit to phone call

Four questions good website design settles on every page

Colour and type matter, but a visitor’s next move hangs on four plain questions. If you miss one, they are back on the results page.

01

Is this the place I need?

Saves a wasted visit

Your trade, your street and “Fredericton, NB” near the top, plus the side of the river if customers think that way. A visitor can tell within seconds whether you are close enough to bother.

02

Are you taking new customers?

Clears the first doubt

New-patient status, booking availability, service area and any seasonal limits stated in plain words. Because the city is growing, a large share of visitors are checking exactly this.

03

How do I get there?

Turns interest into a visit

Street address, mall or building, nearest landmark, where to park during the winter ban, and a map, all as genuine text that people and search engines can read.

04

Why pick you?

Settles the decision

Pictures of the actual people and rooms, credentials that matter in your trade, and customer reviews quoted as written rather than paraphrased by you.

The work

Website design in six steps, start to handover

01

Search research before sketches

The page list comes from evidence: Google.ca suggestions for your kind of business in and around the capital, gathered before any sketching begins.

02

Copy from a conversation

You talk for an hour about how the business really runs, then we turn that into English drafts you mark up. However, any French pages are written by your own people or a translator you hire.

03

Designed for a phone in a mitten

Menus, tap-to-call buttons, maps and booking links sized for a small screen used on a cold sidewalk, then widened for desktops.

04

Lean WordPress

A custom theme without a bulky page builder, so pages load briskly and stay simple for you to edit.

05

Search basics built in

Page titles, a sensible heading order, LocalBusiness schema carrying your New Brunswick address, hreflang where French pages exist, an XML sitemap and 301s for any URL that moves.

06

Handed over in your name

The domain, hosting account and site all sit in the business’s name. You also get the passwords on launch day, plus a one-page cheat sheet for routine edits.

Done carefully

What you own

Standards we follow for every client, set out so you can check us against them.

Our rule
Should we ever part company, nothing ought to need rebuilding. The site is yours from launch.

The domain is registered by you, the code is plain WordPress any developer in town could take over, and the passwords are in your hands from the outset. Your photos and the pages we draft also belong to you, to reuse or rewrite as you please.

Questions

Website design questions from Fredericton owners

How is a new website priced?

Each build gets its own flat price in Canadian dollars after a short scoping talk. Three things move it most: how many pages, whether a French section is wanted, and how much of the writing and photography already exists. Your domain registrar and host also bill you separately, for modest amounts.

Will you write our French pages?

No, because French copywriting and translation are outside what we offer. What we do provide is the plumbing: a French section with its own URLs and hreflang tags. It is then ready for wording from your staff or a professional translator.

Is an automatic translate button enough?

It can help a visitor at a pinch, but search engines generally index the language a page is published in. If you want French searches to find you, those pages must exist as real pages with addresses of their own.

What usually holds a project up?

Rarely the build itself, since for a typical small business that takes a few weeks. The waits are for photos, approvals and translated text, so we ask for those at the very first meeting.

Could a redesign cost us our current Google traffic?

It can if URLs change without redirects, which is the usual culprit. So we map each old page to its replacement, set permanent redirects, then watch Search Console in the weeks after launch.

Once the site is live, must we keep paying you?

No. Once the build is paid for, you owe us nothing more. Monthly SEO is an optional extra you can add later, or skip entirely: $250 Starter, $350 Growth or $550 Pro, in Canadian dollars, month to month.
